It’s been a funny old one with Origins of late. Over the last year or so they’ve seemed to be focusing on gimmicks rather than solid skincare. This included sprays for masking and some kit I had that made a mask which looked like Japanese green tea. The Origins A Perfect World Collection goes back to basics and is Origins doing what Origins does best; great skincare with a natural-bent.
The collection has only three products. Antioxidant Moisturizer with White Team (I’d say it’s a night cream). SPF40 Age-Defense Moisturizer with White Tea. Finally the SPF20 Age-Defense Eye Cream with White Tea.
Apart from the soft and gentle fragrance and rawer natural ingredients, the Origins A Perfect World collection is something I immediately clocked as not looking out of place on a Clinique counter. On further inspection, it actually shares formula similarities – particularly the SPF20 Age-Defense Eye Cream. This is definitely said as praise and not criticism.

This was a big surprise. Most chemical rather than physical sunscreens set my skin off big time and can bring me out in a whole host of rashes and bums. Even some of my beloved Clinique creams can do this from time-to-time. Chemical sunscreens whilst more volatile, protect the skin from within the top layers whereas physical mineral sunscreens sit on top but can be easily wiped/sweat away.

Firstly it smells great. Bitter Orange Oil, chamomile, lemon, bergamot, spearmint, orris and shea butter; whilst all providing active skin benefits including brightening and bacteria-killing, create a gorgeous scent. This, coupled with the sunscreen, smells like holidays.
The White Tea extract, Eidelweiss and White Birch work in this product as an effective antioxidant to fight against free-radical damage caused by sun damage and the ageing process.
For all skin types, this feels to go on a little rich but almost immediately melts into the skin. There is a little residue but honestly not much; that’s just the sunscreen. It left my skin looking dewy and feeling very, very comfortable. There’s also a little calming caffeine in there to help calm any sun-related inflammation if you get carried away.
I wore this all weekend in the blisteringly hot weather. Whilst my arms were much pinker than I’d have liked, my face got a touch of healthy-looking colour – not a burn, not a dry patch – zilch. I found this also didn’t congest my skin which many SPF based moisturisers can do.
This has a massive thumbs up from me and with such a high SPF for a day-cream, is going to be my go-to as we ride the rocky train into British Summer.

Origins A Perfect World Antioxidant Moisturiser with White Tea (aka. The Night Cream)
I know, I know, I know, smell is not important to a product’s function and can even sometimes be a detriment; but seriously, Origins A Perfect World smells so good.
The Origins A Perfect World Antioxidant Moisturiser with White Tea (to give it’s full title, phew) seems to be the ‘Night Cream’ of the gang as it’s without SPF and the other is with. I’ve been using it as one anyway. This smells like creamy citrus sorbet – but not in a desperate attempt to ‘add fragrance’ – it’s super gentle.

This doesn’t feel as stiff as the other, which is likely due to there being no SPF which often thickens a product. It has very similar active natural ingredients as well as Dimethicone, a great ingredient delivery system to shoot the goodness right into your skin.
There’s also Rose Water and Jojoba oil in there to calm the skin and add non-greasy hydration respectively.
With all the Origins A Perfect World collection, there are some classic cosmetic ingredients such as Xantham, Glycols, a few alcohols etc. I have included all the ingredients at the bottom of this article (which are always so hard to get hold of) just in case you want to check them out for yourself.
Whilst I’m not completely jazzed about the formulations on paper, in practice they really do seem to deliver.
I’ll be honest, this isn’t the best night cream going. It’s definitely not bad, but I have better. I like something stronger and more active at night whilst my skin is repairing itself from the day’s events. I think this is a great starter night cream if you’re not used to wearing one or really don’t like the feeling of having something on your face as you drift off to sleep.
If you’re like me, have a look at: Avene TriAcnéal EXPERT Night Treatment; Non-Greasy Comfort Perricone MD OVM Cream or Clinique Turnaround Overnight Radiance Moisturiser.
With this however, you do wake up with your skin feeling noticeably softer than it would normally and just that little bit more perky. A solid product.

Origins A Perfect World SPF20 Age-Defense Eye Cream with White Tea
I’m always funny about SPF eye creams. If there’s one place I’ve blogged about for years being irritated easily, it’s my eyes – thanks Mum (I get that from her). With sensitive eyes it’s a double-edged sword. My eyes are easily irritated by SPF but they’re also really easily damaged by the sun; it’s often hard to win.

So far, after a week’s use, this has not set me off. It usually takes around half a day to know as my eye suddenly erupts with tears and itches to the point where I want to yank the eye-ball from its socket.
It’s very calming however I do prefer something much richer as an eye cream such as Clinique All About Eyes Rich or La Mer Eye Balm Intense. There’s also a few too many alcohol-based ingredients high up on the list which, although are combated with lots of hydration ingredients, seem unnecessary.
The texture is nice and a little thicker than some eye creams but nothing compared to the ‘balmier’ ones. It leaves a very light residue on the skin which feels softening and cooling rather than clammy and sticky. It feels nice; however after showering it doesn’t have the same effect my others do that cause both eyes to heave a sigh of moisturised relief.
This is an OK/above-average eye-cream and delivers on protective ingredients and a relatively high SPF for an eye-cream. However, there are better and personally I look for more calming ingredients for my overly sensitive eye area.
